I've been creating art for the past 50 years. 30 years ago I began to focus on ceramic art, creating both utilitarian and figurative pieces. For the past 3 years I have been working on my Direction of Evolution series. The 3 pieces which are displayed in this exhibition are part of that series.I earned a BFA from Wright State University and my MFA from the University of Pennsylvania. Over the years, I have been in various exhibitions and have won numerous awards.

Courtney Coleman
Courtney Coleman is a multidisciplinary artist based in Cincinnati, working across painting, sculpture, and ceramics. A graduate of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, her evolving practice explores the architecture of interior life—emotional landscapes, liminal spaces, and the quiet thresholds between loss, growth, and becoming.
With roots in ceramics and object-making, Coleman’s work is tactile and intuitive. Her recent paintings use abstraction to explore the unspoken—those internal shifts that defy language but shape how we move through the world. Texture, color, and gesture become tools for mapping what’s felt but hard to name.
She has participated in the Essex Studios Art Walks and supports the work of Missio Gallery, contributing to its mission of fostering thoughtful intersections between art, place, and community. Her work invites reflection and presence—space to feel, to remember, and to reconnect with something essential.

Jen Brauer -Fizzy Mango
I'm a fine artist & designer, as well as a mindfulness & meditation teacher, using ALL the words at times & then taking lengthy silent retreats. • I love to be in my studio making juicy art with acrylics, paper, pencil, fiber, & collected ephemera, while listening to brilliant indie music or any classic jazz that makes me nostalgic for a time when my parents threw tiki-torch-lit patio parties & served drinks in icy, aluminum tumblers. • I'm inspired by period style (not picky about the period), old trees, open-minded people, melancholy, tiny treasures, gentle change-makers, Wes Anderson films, the generosity of kids, vintage correspondence, & LOVE. • I'm happiest when helping others feel cozy, listening to smart people talk, gazing at starry night skies in the mountains, making lists, laughing with my loves, contemplating the Mystery (with a capital M), casting a dreamy little spell over a moment, & turning old mistakes or forgotten bits into something beautiful.

Art making is a return to a lifelong love, instigated by two significant life changes - my mother’s
diagnosis with Alzheimer’s Disease and our daughter’s departure for her college life. These
concurrent events clearly delineated the end of one chapter and the beginning of another...in
short, my third act was upon me and drawing became my release.
I’m turned on by color and shape and the lack of rules or formality. I work with colored pencils
and paper and occasionally water color. When I’m drawing, there isn’t room for anything else in
my mind but the connection between my hand, my medium and the surface. In that way,
drawing is meditative. I don’t draw what I see, I draw what I feel. I’m overwhelmed with
gratitude to be able to take pencil/paint/marker/ink to paper or canvas and vanish for hours in
the joy of it. It’s good to be alive and kicking.

Elizabeth Patterson
An Ohio native, Elizabeth Hope has been an artist ever since she was little. Art was always her favorite subject in elementary and high school, she adored the art classes she took in the summer and the teacher who encouraged her, and she still has pages and pages of class notes covered in doodles and notebooks peppered with ideas for paintings and art collections. In college, although she graduated with a minor in Studio Art, she is largely self taught. It’s always been easier for her to use pen and paper or paintbrush and canvas to express herself, but it wasn’t until her mom passed away in 2014 that she took the leap from her office cubicle to pursue life on her terms. Art enables her to say what words can’t, and her art is an extension of herself, while the process itself is an exploration of her thoughts and feelings, a form of therapy and catharsis. These days the majority of her art focuses on queer people and themes, hoping to provide the representation she herself needed as a kid and still longs to see.

I studied graphic design and this training still lingers in my art. I have created in a few different styles using different mediums that help deliver the message. When I started selling art I was creating mixed media work and did so for over 10 years. In 2018 I went back to painting and was using high gloss enamels to create large graphic images. In 2020 I started using oil sticks and creating a more detailed work, but still with a graphic feel. In 2021 I started to work in acrylic abstracts using a palette knives and this really expanded my skills and my art subject matter. I am now working mainly in acrylics with an emphasis on high flow acrylics and loving it.

Emily Glink
Emily Glink is a collage artist living in Northeast Ohio. With a passion for repurposing new and vintage paper, she creates collage art that is truly unique. This combination of both new and old creates strong feelings of nostalgia in the viewer. In her current work she uses collage techniques to recreate domestic spaces on canvas, with each piece being carefully crafted to evoke personal memories and feelings. This encourages viewers to reflect on their own experiences and emotional ties to the places they've been. Emily believes that great art can be made using the humblest of art supplies and is inspired by the past life of the papers she uses in her creations. She has had her work included in various art shows throughout Northeast Ohio, where she has gained recognition for her innovative approach and distinct style.
